The title of my post seems to be fraught with sexual innuendoes but I assure you that it is not, so let us rid our minds of any unpleasant thoughts pls

Today WQ and I did something so horribly, terribly, disgustingly low class, it is lower than how low the world's lowest submarine can go... or the drilling machines that were featured in The Core (not a good movie btw), for that matter, but that is off-topic. But oh the low class-ness of it all... it is worse than what I did two nights ago, when I walked over to Liching's house to watch 当我们 and then we karaoked (via Youtube) past midnight.

While waiting for our targets (which we'd already reccy-ed) we had some very overrated - not to mention pricey! - tong shui. I won't bother to correct the colors of my phone photos la huh not worth my time:

WQ's bowl of 杨枝甘露 was half-filled; the mango puree was not the only thing that was halved about the dessert. Check out the cherry.

Eh come to think of it I wonder what they did with the bottom half of the cherry. Got no stalk how to sell... hmm. :/ The siewmais are not mine, they are WQ's lunch. We also had 奶皇包s but they tasted as unimpressive as they looked. The salted egg was grainy and overwhelmed any trace of custard in the filling :( My iced red bean with glutinous rice balls was not bad but it's not very hard to prepare because most of the fragrance comes from coconut milk. Zzz gimme 味香园 anytime

After we finished our tea we went back to spy on our targets and WE MANAGED TO SEE EVERYONE WE WANTED TO SEE!!!!!! :D Oh unfortunately one of the brothers left early but since they are twins I guess it doesn't matter. But we weren't there for them, we were there for... I can't even bring myself to say their names T.T I guess our luck was pretty good, since we even saw a bonus figure when we wandered around the heartlands - clue: the eyebrow plucker/stripper (not of eyebrows, but of clothes -.-) who looks freaking haggard now. What else... Oh there was a moving out sale at this VCD shop and I picked up two pretty old Korean movies (one stars Cha Seung Won and the other features Kang Hye Jung) at ridiculously cheap prices so am happyzZz ^^ After that we travelled to SK (the district not the shop ;)) for dinner at a restaurant that can be found in HG... always happens (Y)

Ahh my Sim's husband is a kleptomaniac who wants to be a policeman. And his lifetime wish is to make my Sim die early so he can inherit her fortune wow is truly a 窝囊. I take this game quite seriously because I named my Sim after myself, so I feel like I am living vicariously through her. Useless men must not be tolerated so I'm going to kill him now (sorry bro, 不是你死就是我亡) byebye

Why I'm skipping dinner today

Lunch at Ju Shin Jung in Joo Chiat. Used an actual camera this time... So these pictures might succeed in making you drool.

We ate mostly in silence because it's so damn good. Best to stick with the pork, imo. Skip the chicken and go with the pork dishes. Avoid the pork belly if you don't like fat in your meat (I usually don't, but I'm taste-blind when it comes to Korean food). The marinated pork's good, but the best cut imo would be the pork collar.

How to eat? Just place the just-cooked meat on a slice of lettuce, then top it off with some gochujang, a sliver of kimchi and a little piece of garlic (as seen in the last picture). Wrap it all up and stuff it into your mouth lettuce end first to avoid spillage :)

After lunch we waddled across the road to Everything With Fries to try the much raved-about Nutella tart. It makes for a very pretty picture:

Sharon and I deliberated whether to get the pear tart as well, but after splitting this monster we simply had no room for another tart. The first few bites exploded with Nutella flavour and were overwhelming in a good way (I think?). THE OREO CRUST ISN'T THICK ENOUGH!! :( The texture was mildly surprising to me... I'd expected something fudgy and sticky, but it turned out to be moist, firm and slightly... gelatinous. I've got a pretty sweet tooth (have been eating desserts for lunch for the last 3 days) but this sorta overstepped the limit for me. I think the sugar high combined with the searing heat outside to give me a migraine (I am typing this a little woozily). Sharon complained of a headache as well. It was a good thing we shared this hahaha. To be fair it does make a good treat for growing ginnahs la, but I'm probably too old for it. I want to go back to the cafe and try the mains though! Ambience is casual and reminiscent of The Burger Shack, service was pleasant as well despite the unfavourable reviews I've seen on HGW.

We walked around Parkway for a bit and then went home to nua because we were damn tired hahaha. I went to the library to pay up my fines for books that I borrowed... damn long ago. They were Sweet Valley Twins titles leh omg. Then I still couldn't borrow any books for some reason, so I checked with the librarian and she said it was because I hadn't borrowed anything 'for a very long time'. Then she asked me if I was still staying at my previous block HAHAHAH I MOVED HOUSE IN PRIMARY 5 LEH OMG wow :O It's been a long time ah (Y)

Today I got lost for a bit (But I am no 路痴 okie? ;)) in BraddellHill estate after collecting my spree items WOW THE GATE IS AS INCONSPICUOUS AS PLATFORM 9 3/4 I TELL YOU IT IS THE SAME SHADE OF GREEN AS THE FENCE AND IT LEADS INTO A WOODED PATH I really climbed up and down many flights of stairs leading to nowhere in particular before meeting a kind postman who pointed me in the right direction.

Upon reaching Braddell I sat down at a Mcdonald's to rest. Ended up eating a McNuggets meal good job. I sometimes think if I rest at a place like Jumbo Seafood I will probably order chilli crabs wow self-control really lackingz. Then this kid and his mother were sitting beside, and the kid ran off to Watson's nearby (I eavesdropped) and the mother ate his fries (I peeped) and she went to the toilet, leaving the tray unattended. The kid returned first and upon finding that his fries were eaten, LOOKED AT ME AND ASKED 'WHO TOUCH MY FOOD??' ????!?!?!?!??!?! Woah I was damn offended OBVIOUSLY IS YOUR MOTHER LA BOY but strangling ginnah is not something I want displayed on my CV so I just grimaced at him and said 'I dono'. Then the fat boy said 'Never mind.' NEVER MIND?!??!! NEVER MIND?!?!? WHY YOU LITTLE

EH GUYS I AM NOT IGNORING YOU. MY PHONE CANNOT RECEIVE/MAKE CALLS (alas, its purpose is self-defeating) and my past 3 days have been spent in school attending mediation training huhu T.T Freaking canteen food is freaking shit the brownie tastes like soil and the apple tart tastes like uncooked dough. Really is like if you offer it to the people of NKorea they will take one bite and go back to eating tree bark or whatever it is they eat. Oh that is a very politically incorrect thing to say I take it back :O

Also that spider in the previous entry has been scrubbed away :O Actually it peeled off quite easily and THAT STUPID DOG KEEPS BARKING WAIT TILL I GET MY HANDS ON IT but it will probably bite my hands off hmm :/ Eh must tell you. On Monday the police knocked on my door at 330 am and asked if we owned a dog that was very noisy. All the while the barking persisted from the next block. Hello. Then obviously the dog does not belong to us. And even if it does YOU KNOCK AT 330 AM FOR WHAT WHAT DO YOU EXPECT US TO DO??!?! SLAUGHTER IT AH??! Omg leh 330 am very very good

After countless battles with my soul... I've finally caved in and bought the Sims 3 :/ Goobai world...

Okay maybe not... I think I am playing it wrongly because it doesn't seem very fun to me. And please tell me there's some toggle to make them zoomzoom (X4 is not enough plz) because watching them sleep is pissing the crap out of me. Anyways g2g tmr must rise bright and early whoohoo eggcitingz day ahead with Sharonzz ;)

My thighs and calves are aching so so badly now... I overestimated my strenuous activity threshold after a month of slug-living :( Hope they recover soon otherwise I will have to attend something in a wheelchair :)

So after my last paper I went down to Bugis with the rest, then headed to the gym to run for a bit, which I subsequently offset (plus plus) by eating the Bugisv popcorn chicken which did nothing but refuel my craving for XXL... :O spent a good part of the afternoon hobbling around in heels until I saw this damn nice pair of flats omg they are beautiful although Marilyn says they are fake Ferragamos :O No matter, no matter... I liked them so much I kept looking down at my (poor, aching) feet throughout the remainder of the day... They have to be one of my favourite buys ever. Yum ;)

It was a very fruitful day for everyone on the shopping front. Had Pepper Lunch for dinner and Red Mango for dessert. Felt SO GOOD to be in town just eating and insulting people in general whoohoo. When I returned home I looked through my bags to find other things that I don't even remember buying... Concealer, foundation, loose powder, a wallet (?? but is good deal I won't say how good because you will look down on me T.T), a blouse, running shoes (DAMN. good. deal), a spider and 3 other secret items :) You'll find out what they are very soon :)

Tomorrow I must touch up my roots they are showing like nobody's business urgh. This post has been very rambly and is probably meaningless to everyone but myself but I AM JUST SO HAPPY I HAVE MY LIFE BACK!!!! :D Although I have no shows to watch because I watched Lee Pyeong-Gang 7 and Seon Deok 56 yesterday :O No respect hehehe DON'T CARE

Bidam (again) and migraines

Felt really, really lousy after my paper today but when I got home I was immensely cheered up by the fact that ep 55 of Seon Deok was out (and subbed!!) Ahaha I am so easily placated. Elly was right - Korea provides the answer to all our troubles ;)

The best part about watching Seon Deok is that I can't ever figure out how they're going to solve the problems at hand, but when the solutions appear, they seem so logical. I don't know how they're going to resolve everything in 7 more episodes... T.T How will I survive when this is done?!?!

Also, watching the show made me realise that as brilliantly acted (and hot!) as the new Bidam is, I kinda miss the old, cheerful Bidam :(

As you may know... my obsession with Kim Nam Gil has reached Level Fanaticism over the past week. Doesn't help that the subbed version of episode 53 isn't out yet since the people on the site I watch from are afraid the server may crash.

So I've been watching Several Questions That Make Us Happy while waiting. It's just a two episode long special drama, simple plot but a pretty nuanced exploration of everyday relationships. Park Shin Hye's in it too, and she's so pretty inside it's rather alarming after seeing her as Mi-Nam. Kim Nam Gil is still known as Lee Han in here - that's the stage name he went by for a couple of years before reverting back to his birth name. Woah I just love the man seriously HE IS SUCH A NATURAL. HE HAS SO MUCH SCREEN PRESENCE EVEN WHEN HE'S PLAYING A MINOR CHARACTER!! </swoon>

Oh oh you might have seen him in Be Strong, Geum Soon! as well!! That was his debut role, I think. He played Geum Soon's first husband who died in the car accident HAHA I didn't think he was very hot in there but oh well. He's matured well :) I think for me to swoon over actors they have to be born in 1981 or earlier... Otherwise they fall into the teenybopper boyband category (see TOP).

I've also been watching Seon Deok cast interviews to temporarily satiate my craving, and this one was so cute I've decided to kind of sub it for you!! Okay more like for my own amusement since no one else I know watches Seon Deok... I know it's really long but it's REALLY WORTH WATCHING. TRUST ME. I usually don't stick it out for the entire length of dramas unless (1) it's really good, or (2) I've bought the DVDs T.T And that's miniseries (16-20 eps) we're talking about... To get me coming back for 52 episodes AND wanting more... This is the first drama that's accomplished that. HAHA I've never watched any drama with so many episodes before!

Wow totally cannot tell that I'm having exams hor. Okay let me blog a bit about my life. Today on my way home I decided to buy a stick of fried squid from OCK, and bit into it as I was entering HG Mall. I think they re-fried it so I COULD NOT SEVER THE STUPID THING FROM THE STICK NO MATTER HOW HARD I PULLED and omg it would have been very disgusting to pull the bit coated with my saliva out from my mouth. And there was no way I could walk past S* looking like that, so I was looking for someplace to duck to take the stick out of my mouth. I contemplated going to the toilet but SUPER GROSS RIGHT so i just walked out of the mall as normally as I could (with a stick of fried squid hanging from my mouth) and went to the open carpark beside to take it out. After a lot of pulling I managed to get the part I had already bitten into off the stick. Wow it was SO TOUGH leh (I'm referring to the squid meat) but go back OCK and demand for refund like very low class. Then I wiped my mouth and went back into the mall ;) * was working ;)

When I reached home I continued eating the squid... After I finally accomplished that I realised my lower jaw muscles were numb and aching. I hope it means my face got some exercise and slimmed down T.T

I sound so attractive. Not only am I a tempura who camps in front of her computer and resorts to subbing unsubbed videos to spread the love about someone who doesn't know her (omg that is my life mission. I must. I MUST get to know him.), I am also one who feasts on fried things and blogs about them because THERE IS NOTHING ELSE HAPPENING IN MY LIFE!!!

Wow can't believe I've just forsaken Music Bank to watch 想握你的手. And because I switched channels too early, I managed to catch the 当我们同在一起 press conference coverage on the news. 有够 low class 的

Speaking of low class, I was walking briskly past the T**s F*****n at Little I on my way to school today when I heard it playing Sorry Sorry. Woah a bit stunned (Not cos I like them hor pls. Sorry Bessie.) but I thought maybe yes933 just happened to be playing it or something. But when I passed it again on my way home it was playing Kara's Wanna. Wow leh what is this. 国际化 ah but the Korean touristz will be very happiez~^^

Some random thoughts - I think KWill looks like Daesung but his voice has a Wheesung tone. Although Wheesung will forever be number 1 NUMBER 1!!!!! And woah I think BEG Narsha is very very hot. Her 모리 is short but her features are still very very 여자 ;) Ahem. True, her nose looks very thin and plastic, but real noses are rare things in the Korean entertainment industry.

Hmm this is not something to be proud of (although I secretly am), but I realised while watching MuBank that I can identify all the f(x) members. (Yes, they are a band. Nice name hor.) I think I've been avoiding them because I find Amber creepy... She really looks like a 남자 and not even the cute kind. Is really the 潘美辰/江美琪 kind and omg the latter does not even possess a guy image sholli sholli :O Oh but they are not the only people around who look like 남자 winkwinknudgenudge ;)

As for the rest... Luna can sing, so props to her. I don't like Krystal because I cannot, stand, SNSD Jessica. Sulli is super super pretty!! And Victoria Song ah. Woah. Hot. If I were a guy hor.. (But I am not.. ^^ Omg I am feeling very brave today) after I see her I will just dump my girlfriend and fly to Korea. Somemore she can speak Chinese leh can just be your singapolean self around her.

And after listening to it so many times... I still don't understand. Where is the melody in Chu ♡?!?! Why is it even popular?!?! What kind of lyrics are 아이쿠쿠쿠쿠?!?! Why is there a heart in the title?!?! Maybe I'm just missing something...

(Why, WHY has no one in the English speaking world blogged about the absolute hotness that is Kim Nam Gil?!?! I could barely find anything on him in English... And then conducting a search on Naver brought up so many spoilers for You're Beautiful urgh pissed off)

My studying pace is growing at the same speed as Angola's GDP (sociologists who've come here through Google, I'm sorry but I don't think this is what you're looking for :/), but as always I am up to speed with my 월화 dramas. Can't let every aspect of my life slip, can I? I'm so glad I've gotten my priorities right!!! Episode 3 of Lee Pyeong Gang wasn't great, though that might have been due less to the story and more to the fact that I was watching it in 2 minute segments since the freaking clip took so long to buffer. Seon-Deok, as usual, was Seon-Deokesque; i.e. superb.

Apart from the great storyline, there are two reasons why I've been following Queen Seon-Deok religiously for the past 26 weeks:
1. Mi-Shil (Spoiler: R.I.P)
2. Bi-Dam

Wow I'm watching this show for its villains. I'd initially planned to stop watching after Mi-Shil... well. Go Hyun-Jung played that role so magnificently that all the comments I've read are either requesting for her to be awarded an Oscar or for the show to be renamed as "Mi-Shil's Era". It was truly her era for the first 50 episodes, until she... wow I'm going to have to spoil the show, it seems. Let's change the subject.

I'm not one who prefers second leads to leading males... nope, in every show it's always been the hero that does it for me. But here Uhm Tae Woong portrays the lead - I've watched him in so many dramas and I still can't stand him. His portrayal of Kim Yu Shin is insipid and utterly uninspired. HIS BROWS ARE PERPETUALLY KNITTED!!!!

Think they all look the same? That's right, they do! His squinting is really starting to piss me off... I don't know who told him that emotional intensity could be achieved through eye-narrowing - Miss J, perhaps? Grr

Oh yes, this post was supposed to be about Bi-Dam. Bi-Dam is... my latest obsession. Like I said, my chief reason for watching Queen Seon-Deok was "this Mi-Shil" (that's what she calls herself), but somewhere along the way my second reason supplanted my first. Bi-Dam is such a complex character... He has elements of good and evil in him, but because he's been abandoned and hurt so many times in his life and no one can give him the parental/romantic love that he truly craves, he's like (as Munno, his teacher, put it) a blade without a handle.

But a wonderful blade he is - Kim Nam Gil does an excellent, excellent job of portraying Bi-Dam. I haven't seen any of his previous works, but from this drama alone I just know he's top-notch. I've mentioned how good Jang Geun Suk is in his current role as Hwang Tae Kyung, but even so he's shining among lesser talents. Kim Nam Gil just steals the thunder from every other character in Queen Seon-Deok, and mind you, that's a whole list of veterans we're talking about.

Bi-Dam thinks human life is valueless and is truly unremorseful about killing, yet he goes all out to protect the people he truly cares for. I find myself looking forward to every single Bi-Dam scene because he's such a joy to watch, from his maniacal, murderous smirks to the childlike happiness he displays when Deok-Man shows him affection. It helps, of course, that he's so freaking hilarious. Stupid, boring Yushin urgh.

Kim Nam Gil offsets the cold-blooded killer in Bi-Dam with touches of unexpected vulnerability, and his portrayal of Bi-Dam's slow descent into the dark side is emotionally gripping. His hurt is so believable and so heartwrenching. Have you ever wanted to hug someone evil? I haven't... till now HAHA. The best scenes in the drama, imho, all involve Bi-Dam. He brings out the best in all the other actors present.

My favourite scenes in the drama are the interactions between Bi-Dam and Mi-Shil. Their exchanges merely involve dialogue, but the electrifying skillz coming from a single scene of that could fuel Mediac0rp for years on end I tell you ;) And now that Mi-Shil's era is over (there, I've spoilt it)... it's time for Bi-Dam's. :) I couldn't be happier.

One more BTS picture for no reason at all ;) You might find the old man in the picture familiar... He's Gu Jun-Pyo's butler in Boys Over Flowers! And also Lee Wan's butler in Swallow the Sun wow finally he has broken out of his butler mould claps.

Okay this is a pretty well-made compilation of memorable Bi-Dam scenes... It's unsubbed though. Murderous moments at the beginning, and then vulnerable ones from 2:24 onward. The exchange with Mi-Shil at 2:24 is the best scene in the drama so far, but then again you wouldn't be able to understand it anyway ;) Sorry sorry not looking down on you all ;)

Now I'll just be superficial and say something.

KIM NAM GIL YOU'RE SO FREAKING HOT MARRY ME PLS T.T

If I were to describe Jang Geun Suk as an actor, versatile probably wouldn't be my word of choice. His performance in Hong Gil Dong as Prince ChangWhee was for the large part uncomfortably stiff when played off against chameleon-like Kang Ji Hwan, and his portrayal of twerpy and brash Gun-Woo paled in comparison with Kim Myung Min's magnificent KangMae in Beethoven Virus. I think he's just had the misfortune of being cast next to incredibly strong male leads, people who aren't just good actors, but onscreen magicians who have the ability to make you believe that they ARE the character. I guess it's laudable that he didn't fade into the background despite his mediocre acting... He did possess a decent amount of screen presence. I quite liked his lovelorn character in Hwang Jini, but that was his debut drama role and somehow I didn't see him really progressing as an actor after that.

Then along came You're Beautiful - and suddenly I find myself believing that a Hwang Tae-Kyung really does exist. This role fits him like a glove, and to be honest he's single-handedly driving the whole drama along at this point. Although a fun watch, the plot does get tiresome and illogical at times*... yet because of Hwang Tae-Kyung, who oozes charisma by the truckload, I want, no, NEED to find out what happens next. Does this mean he's in the league of KJH and KMM now? I don't think so... Hwang Tae-Kyung isn't the most challenging of roles. It just so happens that as Hwang Tae-Kyung, Jang Geun Suk truly, truly shines (no star pun, pls -.-). He took what could have been ordinary and moulded it into something charmingly fascinating, so that's to his credit.

(*I've got issues with Go Mi Nam who possesses about the same IQ as Jandi in Boys over Flowers. I don't get why you HAVE to dumb the female down to showcase the male's appeal! In the words of a Dbeans commenter, "if she were any dimmer, she'd be unable to dress herself". But Park Shin Hye is undoubtedly a much, MUCH better and hence much more tolerable actress than Gu Hye-Sun.)

It's quite interesting that as an aspiring musician, Jang Geun Suk faces pretty much the same issues as well. (Anyone heard Black Engine? Don't.) He's like an oddly-shaped jigsaw bit - he HAS to find the right shows, the right songs, and when he does... voila, it all falls into place.

My favourite track off the You're Beautiful OST. I also liked very much the track he did for Beethoven Virus.

So in addition to watching about 1092028309 million episodes of 1N2D and various dramas this week, with last night's purchase I've busted my self-imposed shopping cap like crazy. AND I haven't been exercising. Life sucks!! Okay no it doesn't, because I quite enjoy spending my time (and money) in front of my computer. Only.. I wish I could do so guiltlessly T.T Today I bought this billowy black blouse/dress hybrid... slowly my wardrobe is consumed by dark hues. I may be morphing into a witch :( And a pathological liar ;) as well, since I keep saying I won't spend anymore. I won't I won't I won't!!

Gosh, I'm reallyy into Lee Pyeong Gang! :O Today's episode was fantastic!! I cheated and watched the Chinese-subbed version... Ji Hyun Woo's character is SUCH a jerk and he's so rude.. but he's so freaking hilarious HAHA YOU MUST SEE HOW HE TALKED TO THE CHICKENS WHEN SPENDING THE NIGHT IN THE CHICKEN COOP ("Come over here you guys, I won't eat you I won't eat you") and his reaction upon seeing that Nam Sang Mi had placed his 4-poster bed in her front yard because there was no space in her house ("AM I A POET OR SOMETHING?!"). Wow the stuff he says is damn classic. PLUS the SMS he sent to Schwartz (Schwarz?) using Nam Sang Mi's phone WAS SUPER RUDE woah really very very funny.

Now I can't stop thinking about next week's episode... Urgh!! I'll go find the trailer and post it here.

//Edit: I found the MV for one of the songs off the soundtrack! You can get a pretty good gauge of the show's vibe from this... Can't really tell it's a fusion drama, though from this clip of them dancing Abracadabra (HAHA THE EMPEROR AND EMPRESS ALSO) you can ;)

Just FYI, the sageuk parts and the modern parts are kept completely separate. 2 entirely different storylines, so there's no ridiculous meshing of period costumes in modern times... Unlike that horrendous E1vinN9/J0annep3h drama that MCorp aired in which MCKin9 (R.I.P) played 孝天犬 wow that show is low class like kns. Although I know WQ likes.. ;)

The day before my assignment is due, I manage to watch one episode each of Seon Deok (again, terrible cliffhanger :( lucky tomorrow still got one more episode), 1 Night 2 Days, and this:

First episode was freaking hilarious HAHA very good. Ratings wise it's a goner since it's up against Seon Deok, which reached an all-time high of 46.7% (insane) yesterday. Like me, I guess nearly half of Korea had to find out what happened after Mi-Shil fired the arrow at Deok Man mwahaha. Now lemme dramawiki the ratings for LPG... Yep, it's a goner indeed. :/ That's a pity, since Ji Hyun Woo and Nam Sang Mi (<3!!!) are (a little over the top but nevertheless) adorable in it. To be honest I haven't watched any Ji Hyun Woo drama before... Over the Rainbow looks like crap, and Merry and Daegu (or smth) is on my to-watch list but only because of Lee Hana. So I was pleasantly surprised by how good his performance was in here. The scene of him stealing a skirt from Nam Sang Mi's clothesline TO WEAR was very good, and when he sat down he just zao geng until. Ohh and Park Ki Woong's in this drama as well!! Although he's not on the poster :(

Sigh Nam Sang Mi is sooo pretty. Elly and I were talking on MSN about how she's hands down the best crier of the K-Drama world, since she makes even manly girls like me feel like hugging her. I don't mean manly in the you know what way hor... Haiyah Faith and Ays will know they will know T.T

Hmm I'll probably be watching the next episode as well, but I kinda wish it was subbed. I'd like to be able to watch the drama without having to concentrate ugh
